There’s something about opening a new bag of carefully roasted beans that you can’t replicate and the smell of freshly ground coffee is the closest thing to heaven on earth as far as we’re concerned. Here are a few of our favourite bean roasters and why we love them.
Caffe Monte
Run by a father-son duo, Caffe Monte is a specialty coffee roasting company committed to great flavour and sustainability. Offering what’s called an “elevated experience,” Caffe Monte roasts their coffee at 3800 ft above sea level to acquire a special kind of taste only achievable in the thin air of higher altitudes. The water boils at a lower temperature up there, creating the perfect environment for an unmatched flavour profile and full body. A favourite flavour of ours is Cafe Guatemala for the delightful hints of vanilla, blueberry and milk chocolate.
Balzac’s Coffee Roasters
Based in Ontario but inspired by the elegant cafes of Paris, Balzac’s Coffee Roasters is in brilliantly tasteful business thanks to one woman - Diana Olsen. Her dream of creating coffee shops as unique as the neighbourhoods they are built-in is driven by her desire to celebrate the culture of the area while bringing the tradition of the finery of French Cafes to Canada. Our personal favourite is Balzac’s Blend, based on Honore de Balzac’s bold blend.
